1960S ROCKSTEADY, CALYPSO & SKA
“The best rocksteady band in the country… No contest.” – General Justice, RTR FM ‘Jamdown Vershun’ show
Smokin’ horns, a swingin’ rhythm section and two knockout vocalists – the dynamic Isolites recreate the unique sound of 1960s ska, rocksteady, and calypso, mixing their own authentic original songs with a carefully chosen selection of classics from this spirited era.
Known for their sweet rocksteady duets, Tayo and Coo provide a unique two-piece vocal front for an all-star band that features drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, trombone and two saxophones.
Inspired to create The Isolites after enjoying other ska bands around town, the band sets themselves apart with their 60s style, bringing the full-package Caribbean flavour with not only the upbeat music but also their outfits and stage banter.
You’ll find yourself grooving to the hip-shaking sounds of calypso, red-hot horn-driven ska and soulful rocksteady like you’re in Jamaica in the 60s. As well as paying tribute to ground-breaking artists such as Bob Marley, The Skatalites, Prince Buster and Millie, The Isolites also play their own compositions.
The Isolites’ upbeat and happy sound is irresistibly danceable and brings with it the essence of summer, any time of year!
