1960s BRITISH GARAGE ROCK AND MOD R&B
You can’t really stereotype 4-piece band The High Learys’ sound, which is a blend of the swinging tunes of the mid-1960s, British freakbeat and rhythm and blues mixed with their love for American garage and psych.
Think The Doors meets The Kinks who then greets The Beatles.
This unique combination of influences gives the band their distinct musical flavour, which is topped by their Mod styled sharp fashion sense.
Formed in 2011, the four members play bass, organ, harmonica, guitar and drums with a lead vocalist and backing vocalist.
The High Learys have already released their debut LP, Here Come the High Learys, and have several east coast tours and a European tour to Italy, Spain, France, Germany and England under their belt, which included headlining the annual Ballroom Bash Festival in Cologne.
They also headlined the 2013 Mod’s May Day festival in Sydney and in July 2014 the band was featured in Knights of Fuzz, which featured a number of bands who are considered to be important to the history of garage rock.
They have since supported Grammy Award winning band Wolfmother.
