BIG-BAND SWING JAZZ FROM THE 1930s TO THE 1960s

In the tradition of the wildly entertaining big bands of the 1930s & 40s, and the smooth, Vegas style of the 50s & 60s, Big Swing Orchestra brings you the style and authentic sounds of the swingin’ jazz era with all of the pizzazz you’d expect.

Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet. Everything about these performers said class and with Big Swing Orchestra it’s no different.

The Big Swing Orchestra are an entertaining and charismatic 14-piece band that is comprised of three trumpets, two trombones, four saxophones, guitar, piano, bass drums and vocals, with a couple of instrumentalists also playing flute and clarinet as well.

If you’re looking for something with the style, class and flair of a bygone era then look no further.

Featured Vocalists

Owen Measday

Owen Measday is known for his smooth singing style, taking his cue from artists such as Chet Baker and Nat King Cole. He fell in love with singing jazz early in life through his music theatre experience and currently performs regularly at a variety of venues in Perth.

Owen has played in a range of musical settings, performing in duos, small combos, and big bands. He currently attends the jazz program at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and is excited to be a part of the inspiring and thriving Perth jazz scene.

Bronwynn Sprogowski

Bronwynn Sprogowski formed her own quintet in 1996 to perform the swingin’ jazz she loves so much.

Bronwynn has sung alongside James Morrison, Tommy Emmanuel, Lionel Hampton, Frank Foster, Don Burrows, Daryl Somers, Grace Knight as well as American jazz vocal legend, Mark Murphy. She has also supported the likes of George Benson, Shirley Bassey and Roberta Flack.

Jessie Gordon

Jessie Gordon is a very sun-shy jazz singer, blues dancer, cheese aficionado, lover of vintage, purveyor of terrible jokes, incidental vixen and accidental slapstick artist.

Since 2004 she has fronted The Darling Buds of May and is also a member of Stratosfunk. Additionally, Jessie has sung at the Wintersun Nostalgia Festival (Gold Coast), Swing Camp Oz (Adelaide), The Melbourne Swing Festival, Blues Before Sunrise (Melbourne), all three Perth Fringe Worlds, as well as touring through Germany, France and Spain.
